2011 goals in review
Way back at the beginning of the year, I created a list of things I wanted to achieve in 2011. Let’s see how I did, shall we?
Cut the sugar out of my cups of tea (mammoth task!)
I’m now down to one tea spoon of sugar in my tea. It’s now at a level that I’m happy about. In time, I may be able to get rid of it completely. For now it’s one of my few vices.
Learn Spanish
Perhaps my biggest failure. I’ve found that learning a new language is not just time consuming, but it requires a level of concentration that I’ve been unable to muster. I’ve even listed Spanish as one of my languages on Facebook just to shame me into learning incase someone calls my bluff! Must try harder on this one.
Give my time generously to charitable causes
My biggest achievement this year. I really stepped up my volunteering, and it felt fantastic. I need to keep the momentum going un to next year.
Go above and beyond the call of duty
A bit of a personal one for me, so I won’t go into too much detail. However, I was there for people when they needed me the most.
Finding my other half would be nice
Ha! Yea right. I’ve actually ‘given up’ on relationships to some extent. I’m just going to carry on with my life and let things happen.
Travel, if at all possible
I seriously doubted that I would go anywhere in 2011, but I find myself pleasantly surprised. I can count the following places that I’ve been to this year as: Wales, Greece, Turkey, and Egypt. I can only hope 2012 will be just as action-packed.
Start cycling in earnest, to get my fitness up
Hmm… I did one marathon mountain biking session that really pushed me to the limit. You think you can only go so far, then you break through every barrier you thought you had. It has shown that my fitness level is far higher than I thought.
